Cristiano Ronaldo has added another Guinness world record to his ever-growing list of awards and accomplishments in international football.

Cristiano Ronaldo received the Guinness World Records certificate as the first male player to make 200 international appearances.

He achieved the milestone during Portugal vs Iceland UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying match on Tuesday 20th June 2023 at Laugardalsvöllur, the Nordic country’s national stadium. C Ronaldo captained Portugal and scored the winning and only goal of the match in the 89th minute.

The 38-year-old Portugal super football star was honoured by Guinness World Records before the kickoff for reaching 200 games for Portugal almost 20 years after his debut.

Cristiano Ronaldo receives Guinness World Record. Receiving the award, Ronaldo said, “Triumph with a special flavour. Not only for the day it was, for the tribute, for the 200th game… To top it off with a goal, I can’t ask for more. It was spectacular, and unforgettable, for everything it generated around the game. I have to thank the Icelanders, to the federation for the surprise. And to Guinness World Records.”
