Verify your site on Pinterest to drive more traffic, increase sales, and increase your site’s popularity and authority. This article will throw light on how to verify your site on Pinterest.

How to Verify your Site on Pinterest

To verify your site on Pinterest Follow the steps below:

Step 1. Create a Business Account on Pinterest

A business account on Pinterest is required to verify your site. If you have an existing Pinterest personal account, you can link a business account to the existing personal account or convert the personal account to a business Pinterest account. Alternatively, you can create a new business Pinterest account.

Step 3. Claim Site

Click on the Claim site button and it will display three methods to claim your site, which include an HTML tag, HTML file or TXT record. Choose any of the methods you are conversant with. Claiming your site using a plugin may be easier for beginners on WordPress.

How to Claim Your Site using HTML Tag via SEO plugin

To verify your site on Pinterest using an HTML tag using an SEO plugin follow the steps below:

  • Copy the HMTL tag for verification, then click on continue.
  • Navigate to the SEO plugin tool on your site e.g. Rank Math, and click on General Settings, then navigate and click on Webmaster tools.
  • Past the HTML tag in the Pinterest verification ID text box and click on save changes.
  • Return to your Pinterest account, enter your site URL and click Verify. Pinterest will verify your site within an hour and you will be notified via email.

How to Claim Your Site using HTML Tag via header.php

Instead of using a plugin, you can verify your site on Pinterest via the header.php file on WordPress, using the steps below:

  • Copy the HMTL tag for verification, then click on continue.
  • Visit the dashboard of your WordPress account, click on Appearance from the navigation bar on the left of your screen, scroll and click on Theme file editor, A pop-up will appear on the right border of your screen select Header.php.
  • That opens the header.php. Find the (opening) (<head>) and (closing)(<head>) elements. Paste the Pinterest HTML tag between those elements then click on Save. It is best to paste the code just before the closing element, that is just before the second (<head>).
  • Return to your Pinterest account, enter your site URL and click Verify. Pinterest will verify your site within an hour and you will be notified via email.
  • If you successfully verified your account, you will see a ” connected” message and a green checkmark indicating you have claimed your Pinterest site.

How to Claim Your Site using HTML File

To verify your site on Pinterest via this method follow the steps below:

  • Navigate to upload HTML File and click on download. This downloads the HMTL file to your preferred location on your computer.
  • Move the HTML file to your root folder/directory and save it.
  • Return to your Pinterest account, enter your site URL and click Verify. Pinterest will verify your site within an hour and you will be notified via email.

How to Claim your site using the TXT record

To verify your site on Pinterest via this method follow the steps below:

  • Copy the TXT record
  • Log into your DNS provider account. Go to your dashboard and click on Add a new DNS TXT record.
  • Past the TXT record in the text box and click the Add DNS button. You will see the TXT record successfully saved to your list of DNS records.
  • Return to your Pinterest account, enter your site URL and click verify. Pinterest will verify your site within an hour and you will be notified via email.
